Iglesia Bautista Jericó VISION 2030
First of all, I want to fully recognize the following Biblical truths. þ “And He told them: Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.”(Mark 16:15) þ “…for verily I say unto you, if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain: Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove: and nothing shall be impossible unto you.” (Matthew 17:20) þ “A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.” (Proverbs 16:9)
After praying to the Lord and due to all the things that God is doing in the world, in our country, and in our church, He has given us Vision 2030 to work together in the magnification of His kingdom in the universe.
This Vision is composed of 4 great goals/tasks:
I. LOCAL CHURCH.- To develop Jericó to have the capability to receive people from every area of Metropolitan Monterrey which is made up of 11 municipalities: Apodaca, Escobedo, Garcia, Guadalupe, Juarez, Monterrey, Salinas Victoria, San Nicolas de los Garza, San Pedro Garza Garcia, Santa Catarina y Santiago, belonging to the state of Nuevo Leon with a combined surface area of 4,030 square kilometers and a population of 4,052,459 people as of 2005.
We intend to accomplish this through: · Biblical Discipleship (as the heart of the ministry of the church) 1. One on one (with the goal of developing an obedient attitude toward God) 2. Group (with the goal of facilitating basic ministry training) 3. Biblical Institute (with the goal of carrying them further in ministry development) · Serving the Community (as an opportunity for ministry outreach) o Medical teams o Wheel chairs o Others · Familiar-Group Ministry o Bible Clubs (Starting with children and followed by outreach to their parents) o Home groups (Outreach ministry for families in distant communities.) · Bus Ministry o Buses and vans drive to Club and Home group sites to pick up people for Sunday school and worship. · Biblical Institute o Designed to further equip and train in ministry those members of the Church and her missions who have demonstrated a Biblical attitude and basic aptitude for ministry. · Form an alliance with churches that share the same passion for international missions.
METROPOLITAN AREA OF MONTERREY 2007
Jerico is located in Guadalupe, Nuevo Leon; a city adjacent to Monterrey, highlighted on the map.
II. NATIONAL MISSIONARY ROUTE.- In regards to missions outside our metropolitan area; we are looking to plant a church in every one of the following cities: Monclova, Saltillo, Zacatecas, Aguascalientes, Leon, Guanajuato, Queretaro, San Luis Potosi, Tamaulipas, Nuevo Leon south., breaking the circle of silence in Mexico, a term earned by being the least evangelized zone in the country. There would be, at minimum, ten churches in which we will intend to develop the same missionary vision with the end goal of being a network of Missionary Churches united by the objective of taking the Gospel outside of our nation.
The Vision of the Missionary Work in Mexico
Moving forward with this vision, we are currently planting three new churches in Monclova, Aguascalientes and Queretaro. We are also partnering financially with a missionary in the Mexican state of Chalco and partnering in ministry with a church that currently has no pastor in San Fernando, Tamaulipas.
III. HISPANICS IN THE UNITED STATES.- Personally, I have never heard of a Mexican church that considers doing missions in the United States (many say it is just like throwing sand on a beach). Today, I don’t see it that way, rather a burden has been lain on my heart as a result of supporting a Hispanic missionary at a conference in Conroe, Texas where I could literally feel the need of the Hispanic residents in the United States (more than 35.5 million in 2000, probably more than 50 or 55 million in reality, of whom approximately 60% are Mexican.)
The states with the highest Hispanic population are California, Texas, New York, Florida, and Illinois. Our great task would be to plant at least one church in each one of these states with the same vision of reproducing missionaries to minister to the Hispanics in the U.S.
In order to accomplish this, it is imperative to recognize the need for collaborating with strong American churches who feel a burden for ministering to Hispanics. These churches should also see the need for passionate missionaries to minister to the Hispanic population. We see here a great opportunity to develop a commonality that unites us, and together to send missionaries to other parts of the world, where alone, we would not be able to go due to racial, political and economic issues among many other barriers. (For example, what great blessing would it be if one day we could partner to send Hispanic missionaries to the Muslim world!)
IV. A CHURCH ON EVERY CONTINENT.- We can’t ignore the literal commission to “go into all the world”, to every people group on the planet. The challenge consists of planting at least one church on every continent of our planet.
With a church mature in all aspects and a strong alliance of missionary churches, we will give our best effort to have fulfilled this vision by the year 2030 if our Great Lord Jesus Christ has not come for us by then.
At the close of 2027, in the final three years of the vision, we will plan for the formal transition of the senior pastor of this church to a new pastor (one with fresh energy and strength and a great love for God), and the former pastor will take on the leadership role of Ministry Counselor, at the service of and under the authority of the new pastor. He will also support the churches that have been established throughout the world to date, and he will support the Biblical Institute of the church, with the purpose of continuing to train faithful ministers prepared to go to the end of the earth for the work of God.
Currently we are a small church of some 220 members with about 160 regular attenders every Sunday. We have three pastors, four missionaries, a good group of leaders, teachers, evangelists and disciplers (Glory to God!). It is established in a populated community of Guadalupe, Nuevo Leon, yet we have the firm conviction that God has promised to be with us all our days until the end of the world (Matthew 28:19-20). With this confidence, we are spurred on to march forward in this great work with our eyes fixed on Christ.
“Unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen” Ephesians 3:21
